KC LanChat Privacy Policy

KC LanChat is a mobile client for KC LanChat Server, a self-hosted team messaging platform developed by KC Softwares. This policy explains what information the App processes.
Important: The App connects to a server that you or your organisation operates. Message content and account data are stored on that server, not on KC Softwares servers unless we also host your server instance.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: username, display name, and password (hashed on server)
- Messages & attachments: transmitted to your configured KC LanChat Server
- Server settings: IP/hostname and port stored locally on device
- FCM device token: for push notifications, registered with your server
- Local cache: recent messages cached on device for performance
2. How we use information
- Authenticate with your KC LanChat Server
- Deliver and display messages in real time
- Send push notifications for new messages
- Cache messages locally for app performance
3. Third-party services
Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) delivers push notifications. Google processes device identifiers per Google's Privacy Policy.
4. Data sharing
We do not sell personal data. Messages are shared only with conversation participants on your server. Your server administrator may access data for administration.
5. Security
Use HTTPS on internet deployments. HTTP may be used on private LANs per administrator configuration.
6. Your rights
Contact your server administrator to update or delete your account. Clear local data via Android Settings or uninstall the App.
7. Children's privacy
The App is for workplace use and is not directed at children under 13.
